Grant Description
Grants of up to $10,000 to Montana nonprofit organizations to benefit local residents in eligible locations. Funding is intended for programs, projects, and activities, including capital projects, that address the needs of the community. Priority is given to organizations and initiatives where there is a demonstrated need, and where the results will benefit the greater Flathead Valley.

This grant program gives the Community Foundation the opportunity to learn more about a nonprofit's programs, governance, and financial health. Nonprofits that are new to Whitefish Community Foundation are encouraged to apply for a Community Grant. Receiving a Community Grant is a stepping stone for nonprofits to apply to participate in the Great Fish Community Challenge.

Organizations applying to participate in the 2024 Great Fish Community Challenge may also apply for a Community Grant, provided the following conditions are met:

  • The grant will support a capital project not funded by Great Fish Community Challenge funding, or
  • A new and significant need has been identified by the nonprofit

Organizations not planning to participate in the Great Fish Community Challenge may apply for a Community Grant to support:

  • Programs furthering the mission of the organization, or
  • Capital projects
